Wed Jun 13, 2018

A new season of The Clarion at Brazosport College’s popular Summer Matinee Series begins on Wednesday, June 20, with the return of pianist Jason Farnham.

The Summer Series, sponsored by STP Nuclear Operating Company, is a series of performances aimed at children, running at 1:30 p.m. every Wednesday through August 8, except July 4.

This year’s matinee series feature seven shows, highlighting musical artists, educational acts, theater, comedy and magic. All shows are appropriate for children ages 4 to 12 and all events are general seating.

Performing in the series-opening show for the second consecutive year, Farnham has delighted audiences around the United States and fans have affectionately dubbed him "Schroeder" from Peanuts because of his toy piano, his witty Victor Borge-style piano comedy antics and the clever way he interacts with the audience.

The variety includes contemporary Romantic piano, jazz, bossa nova, blues, stride piano and classical with a modern twist.

Other scheduled shows in this year’s Summer Series include Ensemble Theatre’s production of “Mufaro’s Beautiful Daughters” on June 27, Mad Science on July 11, magician Lanny Kibbey on July 18, Tom’s Fun Band on July 25, Carranza Puppets on August 1 and Vincent Nunes on August 8.
