The Clarion Summer Matinee Series

The “Summer Matinee Series” is a series of children’s performances, which will run every Wednesday at 1:30pm from mid-June thru the second week of August. The matinee series features a wide variety of children's artists including musicians, science demonstrations, magicians, puppeteers, and more.

Jason Farnham

America's Funniest Piano Player
June 20 at 1:30 p.m.
Tickets: $6
Jason Farnham kicks off the Summer Matinee Series. Jason delights audiences around the U.S., again and again.  Fans have affectionately dubbed him "Schroeder" from "Peanuts" because of his toy piano, his witty Victor Borge-style piano comedy antics and the clever way he interacts with the audience. The variety includes contemporary romantic piano, jazz, bossa nova, blues, stride piano, and classical with a modern twist!

"Mufaro's Beautiful Daughters"
June 27 at 1:30 p.m.

In the story of a happy African father, Mufaro, has two beautiful daughters. Nyasha is kind and considerate, but everyone except Mufaro, realizes that Manyara is selfish, bad-tempered and spoiled. When the king takes on a wife and must choose between the two, Manyara sets out to make certain she is chosen. Yet, a surprise ending occurs.

Mad Science

Fire & Ice
July 11 at 1:30 p.m.
Tickets: $5
Children will be dazzled as physical and chemical changes area explored throughout this show. Follow scientist Eggbert on his egg-citing journey.  Witness the wonders of air pressure and an indoor firework show! The show ends with a huge bubbling potion using Special Mad Science Ice. Kids of all ages will be excited about science!


Lanny Kibbey

Magic Show
July 18 at 1:30 p.m.

Magician Lanny Kibbey brings the very best in magical entertainment with his children-oriented comedy magic show. Magician Lanny tours across the United States. Robin Leech, host of the television show "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous" said " I have seen the very best in magical entertainment, all over the world... and the Magic Lanny Kibbey is world class! "

Tom's Fun Band

Fun Music for Little Ears
July 25 at 1:30 p.m.

Tom's Fun Band is a fun and interactive musical group that provides entertainment for children ages 2 - 8. This group consists of acoustic guitar, ukulele, bass and drums, and features the original songs of group founder, Tom Wilbeck. Tom's Fun Band is more than just great children's music. The band works hard to bring world-class silliness to every show in a manner that is fun for all. Adults and kids will have the time of their lives when the music starts and the dance party begins.

Carranza Puppets

August 1 at 1:30 p.m.
Tickets: $6
Carranza Puppets presents "Aladdin" based on the tale from the "Arabian Nights" story. This elaborate marionette play has original and fully orchestrated music, beautiful sets and costumes, and an array of lighting and special effects. "Aladdin" is a wonderful theatrical experience that children will not soon forget.

Vincent Nunes

Music for Children
August 8 at 1:30pm
Tickets: $6
Vincent composes and performs original, interactive music for children.  His seven nationally-distributed CDs have won numerous national awards, including the Parents’ Choice Award, the NAPPA Award, the Children’s Music Web Award and Parent’s Guide to Children’s Media Award. His most recent CD, "Smart Songs for Active Children," just received the 2015 Family Choice Award. He has performed across the country and is a frequent presenter and keynoter at teacher conferences around the country.
