That's why we're offering a one-time $400 credit for tuition, fees, books, and eligible supplies to any first-time-in-college student enrolled in classes by 11:59 p.m., the day before classes start in Fall, Fall 2, Spring, or Spring 2 semesters.

Eligibility Requirements

A student qualifies as a first-time-in-college student if they have not attended Brazosport College or another college or university since earning their high school diploma or high school equivalency (HSE or GED).

Students who took dual credit courses and graduated high school are considered first-time-in-college starting in Fall 2023 and will be eligible for the $400 credit.

Deadlines to be enrolled are:

  • Fall 16-week and Fall 1: August 27, 2023 at 11:59 p.m.
  • Fall 2: October 22, 2023 at 11:59 p.m.
  • Spring 16-week and Spring 1: January 15, 2024 at 11:59 p.m.
  • Spring 2: March 17, 2024 at 11:59 p.m.

Students who are NOT eligible to receive the $400 credit include:

  • Bachelor of Applied Technology students
  • Community Education (non-credit) students
  • Students who have been enrolled in another college or university prior to BC
  • Current dual credit students

Students can use any credit balance for books or eligible supplies through the Brazosport College Bookstore before the Financial Aid Bookstore Charge deadline.

Funds are applied to student accounts in this order: $400 credit, state-mandated/optional waivers, veteran affairs, financial aid, and scholarships.

When are funds are applied to student accounts?

The one-time $400 credit will be applied to student accounts once eligibility is confirmed.

Who is eligible for the FTIC $400 credit?

Any high school graduate, regardless of where they graduated high school or currently reside, is eligible for the FTIC $400 credit. A student that received their HSE (formerly GED) is also eligible.

The funds are for anyone, even those that may not qualify for financial aid.

Is there a minimum number of hours that a student must be enrolled to qualify for the $400 credit?

No. The $400 one-time payment is available regardless of the number of credit hours enrolled.

Does a student have to complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)?

No, a student is not required to complete the FAFSA to be eligible for the $400 credit.

Does a student have to take the Texas Success Initiative Assessment 2.0 (TSIA2)?

No, a student is not required to complete the TSIA2 to be eligible to receive the $400 credit.
