Medical Billing & Coding professionals can work in various medical office settings. The program is designed to teach students the concepts of billing for healthcare services and care and processing medical insurance claims in order for health care providers to be paid for services rendered. The training program is designed for healthcare professionals, medical office managers and those interested in the business aspects of healthcare.
*No Vaccinations required for Medical Billing and Coding Program*
Class Schedule:
Mondays/Wednesdays: 8:30 A.M. - Noon
Mon/Tues/Wed/Thurs: 6:00 P.M. - 10:00 P.M.
Friday: Possible to have 2 Friday sessions
Upon completion, participants will receive:
- Successful completers will qualify to take the national certification exam to test for the "National Certified Insurance Coding Specialist" certificate
- An Occupational Skills Award from Brazosport College
- A professional resume and basic interview skills

Additional Information for Medical Billing and Coding Students
Eligibility Requirements
Only applicants meeting all requirements, including TABE Reading scores, filling out the Allied Health Packet and passing the Allied Health Panel Interview will be eligible to attend orientation. NCCT Testing eligibility requirements include having a U.S. High School Diploma or Equivalency. Applicants with any college degrees (Associate's or higher) will not qualify. Applicants with business office holds on their record will not qualify unless "holds" are cleared before orientation.
No Cost to Eligible Students
All expenses are covered including costs for tuition, TABE Reading testing, two sets of scrubs, loaner books and NCCT Certification Exam for those in the Medical Billing and Coding program.
Limited Spaces
Seats in this program are limited. Only 15 participants will be accepted for each craft class. This is a grant-based program, therefore certain criteria must be met in order to qualify for the Jumpstart program.
