This course provides training on current phlebotomy skills and standards that will help individuals to gain confidence in practicing phlebotomy to either prepare for re-entering the work force or to simply enhance the individual’s skill level. This class will meet the needs for nurses, medical assistants, new and currently practicing phlebotomists. Proof of successful completion of a Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant training program, or professional license or certification is required as prerequisite before students can enroll. Course includes sitting for the Phlebotomy national certification exam through the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).

Class Schedule:

Training Class T/R: 6:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M.
Medical Support Class M/W: 6:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M. (Last day of support is April 24, 2023)

Practicum 4/25-5/25 - Students must complete 48 hours of Practicum between these dates

Plus additional courses: Employment 101, Financial Awareness and Workforce Solutions talk.

Upon completion, participants will receive:

  • Successful completers will qualify to take the national certification exam to test for the "National Certified Phlebotomy Technician" certificate
  • A professional resume and basic interview skills

Additional Information for Phlebotomy Refresher Students

Eligibility Requirements

Only applicants meeting all requirements, including TABE Reading scores will be eligible to attend orientation. Students must also fill out and submit the Allied Health Packet for the pertaining program. NCCT Testing eligibility includes having a U.S. High School Diploma or GED. In order to register, students must have a valid social security card. Applicants with any college degrees (Associate's or higher) will not qualify. Applicants with business office holds on their record will not qualify unless "holds" are cleared before orientation.

No Cost to Eligible Students

All expenses are covered including costs for tuition, TABE Reading testing, loaner books, and cost of national certified exam.

Limited Spaces

Seats in this program are limited. Only up to 15 participants will be accepted for each phlebotomy class. This is a grant-based program, therefore certain criteria must be met in order to qualify for the Jumpstart program.
