CURRENT BRAZOSPORT COLLEGE COVID-19 HEALTH AND SAFETY PROTOCOLS and information regarding return to campus for fall 2021

We care about the health and safety of our students, faculty, and staff. Brazosport College continues to take certain measures to minimize the spread of COVID-19. Our focus is on having a successful and safe fall semester. We ask that you be mindful of the following:

  • In accordance with Governor Abbott’s most recent executive order, face masks/face coverings are not required. However, based on the recent recommendations from the Center for Disease Control (CDC), due to the Delta variant, everyone (both vaccinated and unvaccinated) is encouraged to wear a mask when inside a campus building.
  • Faculty, staff, and students should perform a daily health self-screening before entering any building on the Brazosport College campus. Please stay home if you are sick.
  • Please maintain social distancing when possible. We encourage you to be mindful of your personal interactions in order to protect yourself and others as well as help slow the spread of COVID-19.
  • An individual who is diagnosed with COVID may return to campus 10 days after symptom onset and resolution of fever for at least 24 hours, without the use of fever-reducing medications, and with improvement of other symptoms.
  • According to CDC guidelines, if an individual has close contact (within 6 feet for a cumulative total of 15 minutes) with a person who is positive and is:
  • unvaccinated, he or she should quarantine for 10 days from the date of exposure; or
  • vaccinated, he or she should monitor their health, get tested 3-5 days after the date of exposure, and wear a mask in public indoor settings for 14 days after exposure or until a negative test result.
  • Quarantines of non-infected students will not be mandated*; however, any student should monitor for symptoms and stay home if ill.  (*Children at the Children’s Center may be subject to mandatory quarantine because they are below the age of vaccination and may not be able to wear a mask.)
  • We will continue to follow guidance from the CDC, state, and local health departments. We are prepared to make changes to operations if necessary, so it's vital that you check your Brazosport College email for updates.

Please continue following the CDC guidelines for preventing the COVID-19 Coronavirus, which includes, but not limited to, thorough hand washing, social distancing, wearing a mask, and receiving COVID-19 vaccinations.
