COVID19 Update for Employees: March 20
GUIDES FOR WORKING REMOTELY
We understand working remotely is a major shift for many of us on campus. Please download the provided guides that can help transition to the new mode of alternate operations:
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
The IT department will continue to provide support through this coming weekend. They will be available to provide support and continue working with staff to setup working from home during the following hours:
- Friday March 20: 8 am to 6 pm
- Saturday March 21: 9 am to 6 pm
- Sunday we will be providing online and phone support only from 2 pm to 6 pm
They will be answering their usual 3266 number during these hours as well as using their online chat feature. The chat can be reached by visiting www.brazosport.edu/it and clicking on “Chat Support.”
On Friday and Saturday IT will also have staff located in F-102 for assistance with picking up a laptop or getting your office laptop ready to use from home for an extended time. They will also continue to assist employees with setting up their home computers to remotely connect to their office machines.
If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to our Helpdesk by phone, chat, or email helpdesk@brazosport.edu.
WITHDRAWLS
Students wanting to withdraw from one or more courses will be required to meet (by phone) with a college representative to determine their reasons for withdrawing.
- Credit Courses - Arnold Ramirez or one of his counselors (979-230-3040)
- Community Education - Deborah Ewing (979-230-3600)
BUILDING ACCESS CHANGES
Beginning Monday, March 23, 2020, there will be additional changes to building access in order to support the College’s move to remote operations.
All campus personnel, except Campus Safety, Facilities (including MBM), and Information Technology, who must access campus facilities to perform job functions that cannot be done remotely, shall adhere to the following procedure.
- When arriving on campus, immediately contact security at 979-230-3030 or 979-236-3959. Provide security your name, contact number and what building entrance you need to access. Please allow them to unlock the door for you. Also inform the officer where you’ll be working on campus and approximately for how long.
- Complete the work you need to complete.
- When you are ready to leave campus, contact security again and let them know you’re leaving. Please leave the building through the same door you entered. They will come and secure the building once you have left.
Please remember, besides those specifically noted above, employees can only be on campus to complete needed work they cannot do remotely, and should stay only while completing such work.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we move to remote operations. I know this is a significant change and I appreciate your willingness to enact this change for the safety of our community.
CHILDREN’S CENTER
Following the CDC’s guidance on gatherings and social distancing, The Children’s Center will remain closed through April 10. The College will continue to evaluate and reassess closures in conjunction with local, state, and federal agencies.
