July 14: COVID-19 Update for Employees
FISCAL 2020 YEAR-END CLOSING SCHEDULE
Below you will find the Fiscal 2020 year-end closing schedule. It is very important that you take a few moments to review all departmental purchase orders that are still open. If a purchase order can be closed please send an email or memo to Accounts Payable at your earliest convenience. Please contact Ginger Wooster at extension 3210 with questions.
Purchasing
- The final date for processing regular purchase orders (not JP Morgan Chase) will be Thursday, August 20 at 12:00 p.m. Please monitor the progress of approvals for any requisitions that you have entered. You can do this in Empower by selecting “Requisitions By Requestor” under the Purchasing module.
- JP Morgan Chase procurement card purchases over $500 must be entered as a requisition and approved by Friday, August 28 at 12:00 p.m.
Accounts Payable
The final check run will be Thursday, August 27. Please submit all invoices for processing by Wednesday, August 26 at 12:00 p.m.
Procurement Cards
All items purchased using a procurement card should be received in-house by August 31, 2020. Do not make any procurement card purchases between September 1 and September 7.
Petty Cash
Petty Cash will not be available after Monday, August 24. Outstanding Petty Cash receipts must be submitted prior to Tuesday, August 25.
Bookstore Purchases
The deadline for making any departmental charges in the bookstore is 12:00 p.m. on Friday, August 28.
REGISTER FOR FALL 2020 COURSES
After careful consideration, and with guidance from the Center for Disease Control and the Texas Department of State Health Services, Brazosport College will be offering a variety of course formats for Fall 2020.
Fall courses will be delivered in one of the following formats:
- Face-to-Face: Traditional on-campus courses with social distancing and other safety precautions in place.
- Blended: Courses with both on-campus and online instruction.
- Scheduled Live Online: Online courses with scheduled live interaction with instructors. Student will log-in at their designated class time.
- Online: Online courses without scheduled live interaction with instructors.
If students have questions about their fall BC courses, want to make a change, or want to talk to someone they may email ecounselor@brazosport.edu. E-counselor services are available from Monday to Thursday from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Fridays.
The $40 online course fee will not be charged for Summer II and Fall classes, but please note that all other course fees still apply.

GATOR MART DRIVE-THRU DISTRIBUTION TIME
All BC students who are currently enrolled or who have been enrolled in the past year are eligible for food from Gator Mart. The Gator Mart drive-thru food distribution is on Wednesdays from 3 – 5 p.m.
- Please bring your student ID card and Houston Food Bank card (if available).
- Distribution will take place in the overhang area of the Sadler Health Sciences Building.
- To protect the safety of all food recipients and staff, the following guidelines set forth by the CDC and the Houston Food Bank will be followed:
- Drive under the Sadler Health Sciences Building overhang and stop next to a table placed in that area.
- Pre-packed boxes and bags of groceries will be on the table.
- Exit your car, open your trunk, and load the groceries into your trunk. Be careful not to touch the table; just touch the boxes and bags of groceries. If you accidentally touch the table, alert one of the staff and they will clean the table after you leave.
- All staff and food recipients will maintain a six-foot distance at all times.

OFFICE 365 TRAINING OFFERED BY EMPLOYEE DEVELOPMENT CENTER
The EDC will be offering the following training during the month of July for EGC's:
Office 365 - Delve
Office 365, a strong collaborative tool, helps us manage our files and documents and easily access information. Learn the many Delve features such as grouping and sharing documents and the features of your personal profile page. Delve allows users to share videos, PDF, PowerPoint, Excel, or Word documents & work on them simultaneously in real-time.
Office 365 - Teams
Microsoft Teams allows you to communicate and collaborate with your team members. TEAMS provides a mutual workspace for professionals where you can access, share and edit Word docs, PowerPoint, and Excel files in real time and in a centralized location.
The training will be available from July 8, 2020 thru July 22, 2020.

THE CLARION’S SUMMER CHILDREN’S SERIES
The Clarion at Brazosport College’s popular Summer Children’s Series continues this week with its online, special one-time-only performances.
This season’s lineup of summer show includes:
- TOM’S FUN BAND – Wed., July 15 — 10 a.m.
The Summer Children’s Series will be streamed for free exclusively on the Clarion’s website, YouTube channel and Facebook page. Each performance will feature a show at its scheduled day and time, and the Clarion will not be open for in-person audiences. All shows are appropriate for children ages 4 to 12.
