Frequently Asked Questions
Strive2Drive is a student success initiative. It is based on participation activities in and out of the classroom and will operate on a defined point system, with points assigned based on the length, importance and educational value of the activities. Through this point system, students accumulating the most points each month during the fall and spring semesters will win prizes. The highest point earner at the end of the academic year will earn an additional prize. If that wasn't enough, every participating student will be entered into a drawing for the grand prize, a new Honda Civic. At the end of the spring semester, five students will be randomly selected to be entered into a drawing for the car.
To be eligible for the Grand Prize, students must:
- Be enrolled at BC for a minimum of 6 semester credit hours for both the fall and spring terms.
- Maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA.
- Remain in disciplinary good standing at the College.
- Pay all outstanding debts to Brazosport College.
- Be able to provide a valid, Texas driver’s license or permit (at receipt of vehicle).
To be eligible for the Monthly Prize(s), students must:
- Be enrolled at Brazosport College in a minimum of 6 semester credit hours
- Students must remain in good standing to be eligible.
Yes! The eligibility rules regarding credit hours and good standing apply to all students at Brazosport College.
There is no enrollment process. All students who are enrolled in at least 6 credit hours are automatically enrolled, with points awarded based on the official point table.
Points are how BC tracks Strive2Drive involvement and entries. Every point earned equals one entry into the Strive2Drive drawing. There is not a limit on the number of points a student may earn.
Points are earned through enrollment, on-time payment of tuition and fees, and/or by signing in with Strive2Drive at campus events. To see how many points you may earn, please view our official point table at www.brazosport.edu/strive2drive.
For every point earned during fall and spring semesters, students are granted one entry into the Strive2Drive drawing. Students with the highest points for monthly winners will be identified directly from this pool. In mid-April, five (5) finalists for the Grand Prize will also be drawn from this same pool. The 5 Grand Prize finalists will be chosen at random from all eligible entries earned by students. Student finalists will be notified by Brazosport College on or before one week prior to Gator Day which typically occurs in mid-April.
The five (5) Strive2Drive finalists will stand next to one of five new Honda Civics on Gator Day. The BC designee will draw one key fob and activate the panic button. The student standing next to that vehicle will win the Grand Prize.
Grand Prize winner will receive a brand new Honda Civic, inclusive of sales tax, and initial tag and title charges.
Monthly Prize winners will be notified via their BC Student E-mail. Grand Prize finalists will be notified by phone by Brazosport College on or before one week prior to Gator Day which typically occurs in mid-April.
For all monthly and most-involved awards you do NOT need to be present to win. The Grand Prize finalists are required to be present to win. In the event that a Grand Prize finalist is unable to attend the Grand Prize drawing, an alternate finalist will be selected.
Yes, you are still in the pool of students eligible to be selected as a Grand Prize finalist. Winning a monthly prize does not prevent nor guarantee a Grand Prize finalist position.
Students are only eligible while currently enrolled at least part time (6+ credit hours) as a BC student. December graduates are only eligible for any monthly prizes held in the fall semester.
Anyone hosting an event on campus may be eligible to offer Strive2Drive points for the event. Visit the Strive2Drive website, www.brazosport.edu/strive2drive, for an event participation form prior to the event.
Brazosport College agrees to pay sales tax, and initial tag and title charges associated with the Grand Prize. Winners are responsible for the separate payment of all other taxes, fees and charges, including, but not limited to federal, state, and local income, excise taxes, and insurance.
