Code of Conduct

False alarm and Threat
As required by Policy FB(LEGAL) a False Alarm or Threat violates the criminal code. The criminal penalty for making a false alarm or report at a higher education institution is as follows:
Sec. 42.06. FALSE ALARM OR REPORT
(a) A person commits an offense if he knowingly initiates, communicates or circulates a report of a present, past, or future bombing, fire, offense, or other emergency that he knows is false or baseless and that would ordinarily:
(1) cause action by an official or volunteer agency organized to deal with emergencies;
(2) place a person in fear of imminent serious bodily injury; or
(3) prevent or interrupt the occupation of a building, room, place of assembly, place to which the public has access, or aircraft, automobile, or other mode of conveyance.
(b) An offense under this section is a Class A misdemeanor unless the false report is of an emergency involving a public or private institution of higher education or involving a public primary or secondary school, public communications, public transportation, public water, gas, or power supply or other public service, in which event the offense is a state jail felony.

Drug and Alcohol Prevention
Brazosport College works cooperatively with the Bay Area Council on Drugs and Alcohol (BACODA) to help individuals, families, and communities stop alcohol/drug abuse and addiction. BACODA offers services such as screening, motivational counseling, and referrals to help individuals and families return to a healthy track for productive lives. Educational programs are also available. To learn more about how BACODA can help you, visit their website at www.bacoda.org or call 1-800-510-3111. For more information on other programs and services within the community, students should contact a counselor or the Dean of Student Services at 979-230-3233.

Hazing
All forms of hazing such as any action take or situation created, intentional, to produce mental or physical discomfort, embarrassment, ridicule or possibly cause mental or physical harm or injury to any person or off the college campus. Any intentional, knowing, or reckless act, occurring on or off the campus of Brazosport College by one person alone or acting with others, directed against a student, that endangers the mental or physical health or the safety of a student for the purpose of pledging, being initiated into, affiliating with, holding office in, or maintaining membership in any organization whose members are or include other students. Brazosport College CARE Team
The Campus Assessment, Response and Evaluation Team, known as the CARE Team, is a group of staff members from various departments who meet regularly to assist students experiencing difficulty and to help ensure the safety of our campus.

Examples of these situations might be academic problems, unexplained absences from class, medical issues, behavioral or other psychological matters, threat to self or others, etc.
