Favorite quote: “If they give you ruled paper, write the other way.”
What we love the most: My daughters, Johnsie and Koraline. My husband, Josh. My dogs, Cain and Kona. Spending time with my family and friends laughing and playing card games.
A hobby: I love anything on the water! Surfing, paddle boarding, kayaking, knee boarding, and hanging out at the beach. I love being outside, going on hikes, and exploring new places.
Why we are a mentor: There is something so special to me about being able to meet people where they are and walk alongside them as they achieve their goals and realize their full potential.
Where you see yourself in 5 or 10 years: I hope to have completed college and be working as a Social Worker with high-risk youth.
Your role model or someone you look up to: My Granddaddy has always been my biggest inspiration. I am who I am because of his example. He taught me to seek justice, love mercy, and walk humbly. To always do everything in my power to help others and to be compassionate.
Heather Nichole Quick or “Mrs. HQ”
Career choice: Learning Frameworks Instructor / Counselor / Social Work
College interested in: Brazosport College, BAT program, and 4 + 1 program
I have been blessed with this college, the Bachelor of Applied Technology program, and the 4 + 1 program where I will be able to accomplish my master’s degree, and the support this school has provided to ensure I have every opportunity for success is incredible.
Favorite Quote: “Don’t Stop Believing” by Journey (https://youtu.be/1k8craCGpgs)
What I love the most: My Dudes and My Dames, my 4 kiddos plus my bonus child are my life in every single way.
My favorite hobby: I am a fulltime student, part time worker and fulltime mother of 4 plus kiddos, the only hobby I have is whatever they have me doing at that moment. I am their puppet most of the time.
Why am I a mentor? I feel a higher education is something for everyone and anyone. If there is a way in which I can help make that happen, remove any barriers and red tape, or help with just getting started on the path, if there is anything I can to help make the process easier, I want to help! I was held down with doubt, some I have myself and some external factors, now that I know I can, I feel I have a duty to show others that it can be done.
Where do I see myself in 5-10 years? I see myself here at Brazosport College, as an Instructor for Learning Frameworks, I have become a true believer of just how essential this class and program are.
Who is my role model: All the people who have guided me in my life to the right path, those are the ones who taught me that “You do what you have to, so you can do what you want to”. This is not always the easiest path for me, but it is always the right one.
