The BCWC is a place where all readers, writers, and speakers are encouraged to develop efficacy with rhetorical literacies.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide a space where every student can become a more confident reader, writer, and speaker, and we realize this mission through our workshops, events, and one-on-one consultations as well as our ongoing partnerships with faculty and staff. This mission is informed by our core values: collaboration and equity.

Collaboration

As students, faculty, and staff at Brazosport College, you add to the College’s body of knowledge every time you express your ideas through writing and speech. The BCWC promises to help you share those thoughts clearly and powerfully. We are eager to learn and grow with and from you, and we look forward to working with you to help you become stronger readers, writers, and speakers.  

Equity

We believe that literacy is a lifelong process, and we promise to offer support relevant to wherever you are in your journey. Our support will be individualized and tailored to your needs. As we work with you, we will be mindful of the diverse experiences and perspectives each individual may bring to a session, and we will help you to center your needs in our work together. We believe that all people are welcome in the BCWC, and we are an inclusive environment composed of allies for students of all ages, cultures, ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, and religions.
