Student walking in the Dow Academic Center at Brazosport College

Apply for aid in a few simple steps

We encourage you to submit your applications by the priority deadlines for the semester you plan on attending listed in the table below. Late applications are accepted, but on-time applicants have a better chance at grants and scholarships. Remember that you must apply every year, regardless of whether you're a new or continuing student.

SemesterPriority Deadline
Fall (All Fall Semesters)May 1
Spring (All Spring Semesters)November 1
Summer (All Summer Semesters)April 1

Step 1: Complete a Financial Aid Application

Fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and use our school code 007287. If you are a non-citizen Texas resident, you will need to submit the Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA).

Visit the FAFSA page or TASFA page for more information regarding these applications.

Things to Keep in Mind

Both of these applications typically open October 1 of the previous year, so we encourage you to submit them as early as possible. Late applications are accepted, but on-time applicants have a better chance at grants and scholarships.

Even if you think you may not qualify for federal aid, there are still opportunities at Brazosport College that require you to fill out the FAFSA, such as applying for scholarships or student assistant positions.

Check out the video below to learn more about filling out the FAFSA.

Step 2: Complete the Scholarship Application

Complete the Scholarship Application.

Scholarships are gifts meaning they don't need to be repaid and many are merit based. This means they consider factors such as academics and special interests, not just income.

The application is not specific to one scholarship but rather assists the financial aid office in finding options that best fit you.

Visit the scholarships page for more information.

Step 3: Submit Required Documents

Every student must complete a Student Information Form and submit it to the financial aid office. You'll also need to accept the Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy on your myBC account.

Once we receive your information from the Department of Education, you might receive emails from Brazosport College indicating if we had any issues with your financial aid application. It's important to check your myBC account and your Brazosport College Email regularly for updates. The sooner we get missing documents from you, the sooner we can finalize your file.

Check out the Commonly Requested Forms page to download any forms that may be requested.

Step 4: Review Your Status

Check your myBC account for information regarding your award status. If awarded, your financial aid will be applied directly to your myBC account balance.

Remember that you are responsible for any remaining balance. Your balance can be paid online through your MyBC account or in person at the cashier’s office.

Payment plans are available. Further information on how to set up a payment plan can be found on the Cashier's Office website.
